Business Advising

The WBC provides free individual business consultations by appointment Monday through Friday 9 am – 5 pm. Advising sessions are scheduled via virtual conference or by phone. In-person, weekend, and evening appointments are available upon request.

Established Business Owners, Complete a client registration form to schedule a consultation. 

Startup Business Owners, If you’ve been in business for 6-months or less you need to register and attend our Ready Set Launch workshop prior to meeting with an advisor.

Our Counseling Services Include

  • Business Start Up: assist with concept ideas, financial forecasts, market research, and general start-up assistance for new business venture
  • Business Plan Development: assist with writing and formalizing the business plan and financial projections
  • Business Growth: assist with exploring funding options and preparing for loan applications; brainstorming ideas and creating action plans with SMART goals
  • Marketing Plans: Assist with writing and formalizing a responsive marketing plan that meets your needs; assist with development of business social media pages and website
  • Management Assistance: Assist with financial management, human resource management, organization and operations
  • Certification and Contracting: Assistance with application process and accessing information on government contracting
  • Access to Capital: Assistance with resources for grants and preparing for loan applications

Monthly Workshops

Ready Set Launch
Ready Set Launch is our signature workshop for ideation and startup entrepreneurs. Our Monthly virtual 90-minute training covers the important steps to successfully plan, prepare, and launch your business. Our session provides an overview of the lean model canvas, business plan, financial projections, and best practices for establishing your business.

Show Me the Money
Show me the Money is our signature workshop focusing on access to capital education and resources needed in all stages of entrepreneurship. Training topics are delivered in two-part sessions to provide information, education, and implementation tactics. Workshops are led by DFW WBC team, subject matter experts, bank sponsors, and LiftFund lending team. Virtual and live sessions are offered.  Topics include:

  • The Big 3 – Part I – Understanding cashflow statements; balance sheet, income statement and cashflow statement. Part II – CPA Office Hours
  • Demystifying Capital – Part I-Understanding the different types of commercial products and loans. Part II- Meet and network with bankers.
  • Credit Journey – Part I-Understanding personal and business credit. Part II-Credit assistance programs and resources available.

Women of Wisdom
An inspirational monthly lunch time webinar that features local women who share the lessons that have formed their leadership development and entrepreneurial success through their personal journey of passion, profit, and legacy. Participants learn leadership lessons from women who have successfully grown their own businesses, as well as local organizations that provide resources to help female entrepreneurs flourish. Participants receive expert advice on how to hone their leadership skills, effectively grow their business and get their questions answered.

Business Accelerator Workshops
Learn new skills, navigate the complexities of business ownership and connect with other business owners and local experts at our events. One-time events and series, presented in English and en español, include topics developed for our clients such as marketing, personal and business finance, business planning, selling, leadership skills and more.
